A single European Framework

Objectives :

  • integration of existing European tools to make competences and qualifications visible for employers and individuals

Outcomes:

  • A portfolio of documents "Europass" integrating identified European tools, open to the future inclusion of other documents (European CV, Diploma and Certificate Supplement, European language portfolio and Europass mobilitas). Europass was launched in Luxemburg in January 2005
  • Implementation of this framework through National Europass Centres (NEC) appointed to coordinate national bodies involved, manage the information system, promote information and guidance, and promote the portfolio and its documents. The National Europass Centres were established during 2005 by Member States.
  • Building up a European Qualification Framework: public consultation during the second half of 2005, concluding discussion in the Budapest Conference in February 2006.
