Working Group on Adult Learning

The Adult Learning Action Plan 'It is always a good time to learn' was adopted by the European Commission on 27 September 2007. Building on the 2006 Communication 'It is never too late to learn', the Action Plan was reinforced by the Conclusions of the Council in May 2008

The Working Group on Adult Learning was formally created to support the implementation fo the above-mentioned Action Plan and organised a number of Adult Learning-related activities during 2008-2010 in collaboration with the European Commission. These activities consisted of:

1. Peer Learning Activities (PLAs)

2. Regional meetings

3. Workshops

30 different countries were invited to participate in these activities: Austria, Belgium (BEfr and BEnl), Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, United Kingdom, Iceland, Norway, Croatia. 
The Stakeholders that were also invited to participate are:

  • CEDEFOP
  • European training Foundation (ETF)
  • Eurydice
  • European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC)
  • European Association of craft, small and medium-sized enterprises (UEAPME)
  • Business Europe
  • European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA)
  • European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN)
